Easy DIY Centerpiece with Clear Balloons and Flowing Tulle

Halloween is the perfect time to get crafty and create something magical! We'll show you how to make a fun balloon prop you can use as home or classroom decorations and even as a wedding centerpiece! It's spooky, but not scary so you can absolutely make this with your kids! Not only is this DIY inexpensive but you'll honestly want to make this for every holiday!
What You'll Need
To start, you'll want a few things -
- Tulle Fabric
- Rubber Bands
- Clear Balloons
- Ribbons for Decorating
- Scissors and Wire Cutters
- Balloon sticks and a base. For our base, we used a styrofoam disk but you can also use a small vase filled with marbles or river rocks. You just want something that's sturdy and will be a nice balance to the tulle and balloon decorations.
The first step is to stretch the clear 24 inch balloon. This is a step that cannot be missed - if the balloon is not stretched, it will not hold a round shape. Start from the outside and carefully stretch along the edges of the balloon, moving to the center. Once your balloon is stretched, you can inflate it using a hand pump and secure with a knot. Helium is not recommended for this DIY as it won't be able to hold up the tulle.
Now it's time for the fun part - decorating your balloon! To keep with the spirit of Halloween, we used black tulle. Tulle is the perfect fabric - it's lightweight and inexpensive so you can really use it for so many craft projects! From the 54" tulle roll, we used 5.5 x 5 feet of tulle to cover the balloon. Your dimensions might be different depending on how much coverage you want and how big your balloon is, and that's ok! Make sure to secure the tulle with a rubber band for easy decorating.
You'll want secure the balloon unto the balloon cup and connect it to the acrylic stick. We used 2 sticks and as you can see, you can easily cut down the length to create just the right height for your decorations. Place the balloon into your vase or styrofoam sheet. Feel free to get creative and decorate your base with ribbons or more tulle!
For the finishing touch, accent the tulle with fun purple and orange ribbons! You can also add light-weight craft flowers - really let your creativity soar! Voila, your tulle balloon is complete! Use these fun decorations on your candy table, as a centerpiece, or simply as home decor! Happy Halloween!
